Brussels, 17 March 2026 – For the third year in a row, itsme presents very strong results. Looking back at 2025, the company saw an exceptional year featuring a foreign acquisition and robust growth across all segments. For the first time, itsme has surpassed the milestone of eight million users in Belgium, recorded a profit of over seven million euros, and seen the total number of itsme actions rise to 594 million annually. A 25% increase compared to 2024.
Integration into the daily lives of every Belgian
For the first time in its nearly ten-year history, more than eight million Belgians are using the digital identity app. Itsme is increasingly being used as a digital identity to access online government services and private sector environments. With nearly 600 million actions per year, itsme is by far the most widely used digital key in Belgium. The app is also being utilized more broadly: citizens use the application on an average of five different platforms, compared to four the previous year. Additionally, itsme was used an average of 1.6 million times per day in 2025, a 25% increase over 2024. This demonstrates that the application has become indispensable in the daily lives of Belgians.
This more frequent usage is also due to significant growth in the number of qualified electronic signatures created with the app. Compared to last year, the use of this functionality rose by a staggering 55%, showing that Belgians increasingly trust itsme to sign official documents digitally. A qualified digital signature carries the same legal value as a handwritten signature. Thanks to growth in both usage and user base, itsme saw its corporate profit increase by 25% in 2025.
Tom Van Den Bosch, CEO of itsme: “We look back with pride on an excellent year. For the third year in a row, we have demonstrated that itsme is a healthy and robust company. More and more citizens trust itsme as their digital key, and thanks to the dedication of our fantastic team, we succeed year after year in living up that trust.”
Growth in existing and promising industries alongside product innovations
Itsme is seeing strong growth in usage across various sectors. The company focused heavily on both existing and new partnerships. Last year, itsme announced integrations with newcomers such as PostNL Belgium in the logistics sector, Engie in the energy sector, and DKV in the insurance sector. Additionally, itsme tapped into new industries, including the sports sector, with the Pro League as its first client. With the Pro League, itsme rolled out the first phase of a joint pilot project for more secure ticket sales. In a second phase, both parties are investigating the role itsme can play in the physical world, ensuring only the correct people – ticket holders – are admitted to soccer stadiums.
At the end of 2025, several product innovations were launched to combat phishing. The most prominent application is the appearance of an extra verification screen when a user receives an itsme action during a phone call. This pop-up screen warns of potential scams but leaves the choice to the user whether to proceed with the itsme action or not. Finally, itsme was made accessible to minors aged 13 and up, allowing them to use the app to access environments such as their online banking system.
Tom Van Den Bosch, CEO of itsme: “An efficient digital society relies on trust. That is why more and more service providers in existing and new industries are choosing the security and ease of use of itsme. Innovations such as positioning itsme in the physical world or our extra verification screen to warn users of potential fraud are not just choices, but a social responsibility. That is precisely where we want to make a difference.”

Itsme® on the European stage
Internationally, itsme also took a major step forward in 2025 with the successful acquisition of iDIN, the Dutch identification service on the private market. With this strategic move, itsme opens the door to much broader European operations. In the course of 2026, itsme will be rolled out across approximately 300 websites of private Dutch partners, ensuring broad adoption in the Dutch private market. Furthermore, itsme significantly strengthened its European presence in 2025 by doubling the number of European countries where the app is available, from 16 to 32.
Tom Van Den Bosch, CEO of itsme: “Since 2017, we have been building itsme with one clear ambition: to create a solution that allows everyone to identify themselves easily and securely across all of Europe. The acquisition of iDIN reinforces that vision and prepares us for a future where digital identity, more than ever, forms a strategic pillar for the European Union.”
